“A miracle in a can! Our world-famous Smith’s Rosebud Salve has been a family favorite since 1892. Celebrities love the consistency and emollient texture of this #1 selling lip balm and all-purpose salve”
I have wanted to try this Smith’s Rosebud Salve for years now. I have heard people rave about this stuff. So, a couple of weeks ago I finally decided to pick it and give it a go.
I adore the vintage look the tin has. It reminds me of something my Grandmother would have kept for years and re-used it for so many other things.
I know a lot of people do not like the packaging, since they have actually have to use your fingers to apply the product. I do not mind because I wash my hands before I apply products where I have to use my fingers. For those who do not like this packaging you will be happy to know they do have in a tube. Or you can just use a lip brush to apply it.
It is a lot lighter than your average petroleum Vaseline. I found that it was not sticky on my lips.
The salve has a clear red/pink tint in the tin, but once you apply it to lips it applies clear, It is very glossy. I love applying it after I have had a shower and getting ready for bed.Let me tell you, all you need is the tiniest bit. It does not leave me with that white film around my lips. ‘Cause I really do not like when that happens. Have you noticed most people won’t even tell you when you have that white film around your lips?
♥ It is also a great way to prepare your lips if you are going to be wearing a matte/liquid lipsticks.
It does have a slight rose scent not over powering at all, so if you are not about that rose life. You might not like this. Did not bother me in the slightest. If you do first smell it for a second it does remind your of how Vaseline smells.
I have enjoyed how hydrated my lips have been feeling. I did not use this salve on any other part of my body. Even though they do say it is an all-purpose salve. I will stick to using it just on my lips. I can imagine it working well on dry elbows, feet.
The Rosebud Salve retails for $6.00 at Sephora and Ulta. The tube retails for the same price.
This goes everywhere with me now and I definitely see myself repurchasing this when I run out. This might not be very different from petroleum Vaseline, but I do think it is a nice little treat for your lips.
Have you tried this? What were your thoughts on it?
