I recently went a little crazy on the Colourpop website. They had free domestic shipping and if you know me, you know I love free shipping. I follow Colourpop on Instagram but, I actually haven’t been keeping up with their releases lately. When I saw free shipping I was all over Instagram looking up swatches to get an idea of how the shadows looked.
I have never tried any of Colourpop’s shadows so I was not sure what to expect. I have heard some people say their eyeshadow is like no other….and boy were they right.
These shadows are some of the most rich/creamy (almost wet like) shadows I have ever used. They don’t remain “wet” on the lid, they do set down to a powder finish. These shadows are available in a bunch of different finishes – pearlized, metallic, ultra metallic, satin, matte.
You will have you taken a back a little by the texture. They remind me of a dense sponge/foam pillow/a squishy marshmallow…now just imagine those three things combined and having a baby. The end product would be the Colourpop shadows weird I know.
I have heard people say to apply these shadows with your fingers and it is definitely the best way to apply them. When applying these shadows I either use my index finger or ring finger to apply them. I use a blending brush to blend out the edges. Applying it with a brush you are not going to get the same colour pay of as you would with your fingers. Don’t leave the jar opened for long periods of time, you may lose some of the magic that makes the Super Shock Shadow so amazing.
Colourpop has value sets that you can purchase and I am a total fan of those sets. I picked up the set Zingara and Kathleen Lights – Where The Night Is set. You get 4 shadows in the set with different finishes, these shadows you can also purchase individually if you like.
Paradox – A cool-toned burgundy red in a Satin finish
Seeker -A warm reddish brown in a Matte finish
Elixir- A mid-tone true terracotta in a Matte finish
Jinxie – A soft gold in a Pearlized finish
The Zingara set are beautiful colours for this time of year. This set reminds me so much of the Anastasia Beverly Hills -Modern Renaissance Palette. Retails for $18
I also picked up the value set that was in collaboration with Kathleen Lights (a popular YouTuber) “Where The Night Is” Retails for $18
Telepathy – Bright gold with a green undertone in an ultra-metallic finish
Porter – Warm burgundy with gold multi-dimensional gold glitter on top in a metallic finish
Weenie – Pinky rose gold in a pearlized finish
Midnight – Black undertone with a ton of gold glitter on top in a metallic finish)
I see that set is no longer available on the Colourpop website the great thing is that these colours are available to you can purchase them individually.
Lastly I ordered two individual Super Shock shadows in the shades “Luckfully” and Dare
Luckfully – bright cobalt blue in a Pearlized finish
Dare -Shockingly bright neon purple with hot pink and violet glitter in a metallic finish.
Finally, I ordered their “Up and Away” lip value set which came with 3 shades, 2 of which were Ultra Mattes and 1 Ultra Satin finish. A beautiful colour selection in my opinion 🙂 Retails for $15
Mama: A true burnt orange in an Ultra Matte finish
Love Bug: A rich Terracota in an Ultra Matte finish
Calypso: A mid-tone pinky nude in an Ultra Satin finish
Something to note “Mama” is that it was a little watery compared to the other shades. But, that did not affect the liquid lipstick. It was just something that I noticed. It was my first time trying the Ultra Satin finish, I definitely prefer this formula to the Ultra Matte finish
