Here in Houston we all are getting ready for the leaves to start changing, and the weather to start getting cooler. I know some parts of the world Spring has hit and the flowers are blooming 🙂 Make it a great September
Lets get on to my post shall we.
If you read my August favs here you would have seen that this product was not a favourite of mine. It was the first time I added a product that I did not like in my favourites.
A couple of months ago I purchased 2 products from Shea Moisture. My drugstore (Walgreens) had a special if you bought one Shea Moisture you got another free. So, since it was my first time purchasing anything from the brand.
I purchased the Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk. Which is a holy grail product for my curly hair. If you want to see what I use on my curly hair here is the post.
Second product I decided on was the Deep Treatment Masque. Which is sulfate free & colour safe.
The product is for dry, damaged hair, which I do have from all the heat and processing. I have done over the years.
The product is also said to heal, grow and strengthen. Which I can not talk about since I have only used this mask about 6 times on my hair. So that is not long enough to see if those results occur.
When I first used the product I used it in the shower, washed my hair as per normal and applied a generous amount to my hair. Used my Tangle Teezer to get the product distributed evenly. While I was distributing the product all over my hair. I immediately noticed that the masque was not a very silky, smooth masque. It has no slip, if you get what I mean.It kind of made it hard to get the product evenly distributed.
It definitely is not a good product to use if you are trying to detangle your hair.
I left the masque on for 5 minutes as suggested on the container. When I rinsed my hair, my hair felt dry, not smooth at all. There was no silkness to it, and maybe that has to do with the ingredients. Since it is basically a natural product.
I did not notice anything different on my hair once my curls dried either.
I thought hey I will use it another time maybe it will be different then. Unfortunately each time I used it I got even more and more disappointed in the product. I even kept the product on my hair for 30 minutes for a deep treatment. And I got the same results as the first time I used it.
It did not provide my hair with any moisture at all.
It is not like any other hair masque or treatment I have used before.
If you touch and run it in your fingers, it feels like any other masque. But once it is applied to your hair and mixes with the water. It is just not easy to work with.
The product smells ok, it is definitely not my favourite of smells.
The product retails for about $9.79 at my local drugstore.
Shea Moisture usually have good deals on from time to time on their products.
I would love to try more items from Shea Moisture. As I have one that is my curly hair best friend and the other one is my curly hair non-bestie.
Have any of you tried this product? Did you notice anything different in your hair?
