Hi Lovelies ♥
I know, I am jumping on the Maybelline-Baby Skin bandwagon really late. But i know everyone and their Momma have done blog posts and reviews on the Maybelline – Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. But i thought i would add my 5 cents as well 🙂
→This product has been compared to two primers that are on the market ←
1. Benefit Porefessional $31.00 at Ulta
2. Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer $36.00 at Ulta
I have not tried either of the products the Benefit Porefessional, so I can’t speak on that. But i have heard some say its the same and others say it’s not at all. I can only speak on my initial impressions of the products I got while swatching them in the store.
What I did was i just swatched the testers at Ulta. First thing you do notice is that the colour of the products are different – the Porefessional is like a caramel colour (but when you rub it in the colour disappears) and the Baby Skin is clear. And the constancy of the two products are different – the Porefessional is not as silicone as the Baby Skin.
From me swatching those products, I did find that the Smashbox Photo Finish felt and looked more like the Baby Skin. It was clear and very silicone.

♥ I have normal to dry skin
♥ I do have a few pores near my cheek/nose area
So this product did speak to me
To be honest I don’t always apply primer too my face. I usually just apply my foundation.
But what a primer does is that it give your face a smoother canvas – so even if you don’t have major pores, it’s a step that you can use to have flawless skin.
I applied the primer underneath my foundation at around 8am – now when i first applied the primer I was not so sure about it. The reason I say that is because it just was really silicone.
I did wait for about 15 mins before I applied my foundation since I wanted the Baby Skin to settle in my skin.
And…….I can honestly tell you when i applied the Baby Skin- I definitely did see a difference in my skin. It did kind of blur out my skin, if that makes sense.
I can say after applying my foundation it did feel extra smooth on my skin-to the point where it kind of felt a little annoying, but my skin looked flawless. It did settle in about an hour later and my skin felt normal and yet again flawless 🙂 I am still playing around with it, so I do not end up with that annoying feeling.
One thing I would like to test out, is on an extremely hot day – I would want to apply this and see how it does on my skin, as it can have – and that is in my case, it can appear that your skin might seem oily. Mind you I do not mind that, since I do have normal to dry skin. But it does not look oily in where most people would get oily – like their T-Zone. The high shine is usually on my cheeks, which i like .Guys hopefully I am making sense lol
This product has definitely made it into my makeup routine- It’s not a product I would use when I am going for a light make up kind of day. But it’s definitely something I will use when I go for a full face of make-up and want that really glowy look. I am not sure how someone with oily skin would do with this product – also keep in mind I don’t use pressed powder on my skin, so maybe someone with oily skin would use this and pressed powder to control the oil. Let me know if you have oily skin and how this product has worked for you.
If you have tried this or any of the other primers, do you guys think there are dupes or not even close?
