Hi Lovelies ♥
I know all of us at one point suffer from flaky, dry lips and that can be so annoying.
But there are some DIY remedies that you can do right at home for those lips of ours.
This lip exfoliator is great too use anytime of the year. I know a lot of people suffer from dry and flaky lips during the winter months. So is also a perfect time to use it.
This also makes for a great gift for someone – and hopefully they don’t take it in the wrong way lol 🙂
♥ Organic coconut oil
♥ brown sugar
♥ a teaspoon
♥ a tablespoon
♥ a mixing bowl
♥ an empty jar or 2.5 oz baby food jar
♥ Combine one tablespoon of coconut oil with one tablespoon of honey into the bowl. And besides it smelling and tasting incredible, coconut oil is actually an amazing natural ingredient for skin and body products. The oil contains fatty acids and antioxidants that moisturize and nourish the skin while honey contains cleansing and healing properties and is a natural binder. So all round just good for you!
♥ Mix the coconut oil and honey until they bind together. The consistency should look like thick honey-comb honey. Make sure to mash up all of the coconut lumps so that the mixture is clump-free.
♥ Add your two teaspoons of brown sugar and fold it into the base. Brown sugar not only tastes fantastic, it is also a great natural exfoliant because it’s not too harsh and leaves skin soft to the touch. All of the brown sugar should be coated in the coconut oil and honey base.
After you have coated your sugar with coconut oil and honey…..you than
♥ Transfer the scrub from the bowl into a small jar or container.
♥ The edible scrub will last up to 2 weeks if refrigerated. Before using, allow the scrub to stand at room temperature for a good 10 minutes so that the formula softens a bit. Use a cotton swab to apply the lip scrub to avoid transferring bacteria from your fingers into the jar
Don’t overuse a lip exfoliant. Using lip scrubs too often can exacerbate the problem and result in painful, cracked lips. Apply the scrub once a week, and use lip moisturizer the rest of the time. Also keep in mind, because homemade beauty products do not contain preservatives, they have a shorter shelf life.
→Please do not use honey on babies under that age of 1 or until you speak to your medical doctor←
