Hi Lovelies ♥
As you can see by the title of my blog post I will be talking about disinfecting our make-up. Im sure a lot of us don’t do this after we are done applying our make-up. I know I am definitely guilty of not disinfecting my make-up….guilty as charged :/
But just like how we give our make-up brushes a good bath, we need too do the same with our make-up products. I had seen this from a fellow blogger but cant think of her name now. I thought It was a great idea to share it with you all.
Even though you are the only one using your make-up we all have bacteria and we need to take pre caution with our make -up .
If you have ever gone to a MAC counter you will know they will always ask you if you want to try on a lipstick and if so, they will disinfect it before you want to try out a lipstick. .And to be honest this is the only place I have seen them do that. I might have seen it other places but MAC counters stick out too me.I know when it comes to make up brushes the make up sales person will spray brush cleanser on their brushes before they use it on you.
But today I will be sharing with you on how we can disinfect our make-up bits when we are done using them ourselves at home. And these are things we should have at home already 🙂
1. Rubbing alcohol (make sure its not 99% as the alcohol will evaporate way to fast) try and get one that is 70% or higher
2. Cotton pads
3. Disinfecting Wipes
4. A spray bottle ( I just used an old VS bottle)
5. A Sharpener
**Wash your hands before and as your are picking up different make- up bits ****
Pour some alcohol in to the spray bottle to get started
Aim the spray bottle at the item you would like to disinfect- in my case I am disinfecting my Naked palette. What you would need to do is keep the bottle and the palette a few inches away from each other, so that the alcohol distributes evenly. One thing too keep in mind is not to over saturate your products that you are cleaning.
After you are done with that leave it to air dry.
Continue this process with your blushes, bronzers – items that are in a pan or palette.
With your lipsticks just spray the alcohol directly onto the product- another way of also sanitizing your lipsticks are with disinfecting wipes- and that way you can just wipe it down,And then let it air dry.
Take your sharpener and clean it with a disinfecting wipe its so that you don’t transfer germs onto your lip pencil or eyeliner pencil.
After you are done sharpening whatever you sharpened you take your spray bottle and spray some alcohol onto it and your wipe your pencil down.
****When it comes to make-up products such as mascaras and gel liners/felt tip liners that are not easy too clean its best that those products get replaced every few months. Like for instance mascara is only good for 3 months, cause its a dark place in there – no pun intended
Also when it comes to things such as beauty blenders and make-up sponges we can clean those with soap and stuff. But after a couple of uses we do need to replace them as well -may it be 3 months to a year its something that we should replace. I know the original Beauty Blender is like $20 bucks. That would hurt me to just throw away my Beauty Blender.
And what you can do as well is when you are done cleaning your make-up, you can use a disinfecting wipe just to wipe down the exterior of your product.
Hope you enjoyed this post 🙂
